Nick’s world

With an academic background and a practical bent he has used his specialist knowledge to speak to many different and diverse audiences - everything from lecturing post-graduate students to addressing large gathering.

Along the way he has spoken to cruise ship passengers, gardening societies and groups of students with challenging behaviour.

Fellowship of the Royal Entomological Society came as a result of his work and fascination with beetles.

He has been a warden of nature reserves, laboured on farms, written papers for learned journals, taught countryside management and exhibited photographs.

Whatever Nick’s role, he has always maintained his love of wildlife and, in Haldane's words, "an inordinate fondness for beetles."
